Hindi film actor Sonu Sood gave the mahurat clap for the Marathi film titled Salman Society. The film with an unusual and quirky title is directed by first timer Kailash Kashinath Pawar. As per an official statement by the makers, the actor agreed to give the clap since he believes in promoting regional cinema.

While the cast of the film is kept under wraps, the makers have announced that the film will focus on the importance of education among children. It will carry the tagline 'Padhega India toh badhega India'.

It will be interesting to see the Salman Khan connection in the film. Sood has worked with Khan in the blockbuster Dabangg (2010). This isn’t the first film to have a mention of Hindi film superstar Salman in the title. Last year, a Hindi movie titled Sallu Ki Shaadi was released. The title took a dig at the interest in the bachelorhood of Khan.

Salman Society is produced by Chandrakant Pawar, Rekha Surendra Jagtap and Prajakta Enterprises and AR Enterprises. Chandrakant had produced Vijay Patkar’s Mohar (2016). He had made his directorial debut last year with Vitthala Shappath.

Salman Society is expected to go on floors this month. The cast of the film is expected to be announced soon.
