Actor Irrfan Khan, whose next film is the comedy Blackmail (2018), has been away from work for the past two weeks. Khan was diagnosed with a case of severe jaundice during the last week of February and advised bed rest.
Today, he put out a statement on Twitter regarding his health and indicated that he is battling a rare disease that has not yet been conclusively diagnosed.
He wrote: "Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week, ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me! (sic)"
Khan asked for best wishes from his fans and said his family and friends were with him, trying to working out a way.
The actor also said he would be the one to share the news once the diagnosis was clear.
Later this year, Khan is due to film an upcoming Vishal Bhardwaj film with Deepika Padukone and the sequel to his very successful Hindi Medium (2017). In January, he won the best actor trophy for Hindi Medium at the Filmfare awards.
