Box office: Anushka Sharma's Pari earns only Rs4 crore on opening day


While Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has made a total of around Rs50 crore nett in two weeks.

Producer-actor Anushka Sharma's horror flick, Pari, directed by Prosit Roy, performed poorly on its opening day at the box office. The film, managed to make only around Rs4 crore on day one. The numbers are especially low considering it was a public holiday.

The numbers though are still a little higher than Sharma's last production Phillauri, which had managed to earn only Rs3.86 crore at the box office on its first day.

Pari review: No fairy tale maybe, but neither is it a nightmare

Sharma's Clean Slate Productions and KriArj Entertainment place the total budget of Pari at Rs18 crores, which is not a big number. So the Prosit Roy directorial, which has received mostly average reviews from critics, may be able to earn some money for the distributors if the numbers see a slightly upward trend on Saturday and Sunday.

Apparently, the producers have made around Rs10 crore already from the sale of its satellite, music and digital rights.The film also stars Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee.

Last week's small budget release, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, directed by Luv Ranjan, continued its successful run on its second Friday (2 March), earning a good Rs5.50-5.75 crore nett approximately. The film's total collections now stands close to Rs50 crore nett.

This week's other release Ashu Trikha's Veerey Ki Wedding earned a meagre Rs75-80 lakhs nett on its opening day.
