Sidharth Malhotra tasted success in 2014 with Ek Villain, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures. Now, the actor-producer duo have joined hands for another film. The yet untitled film is touted as a love story.

Unlike most of Malhotra's movies so far, this one won’t be based in an urban milieu. “It’s a small town love story with edgy characters. As soon as Ekta heard it, she immediately reached out to Sidharth. She believes it’s a great role and a perfect film for them to come together. The film is expected to roll in a couple of months. The makers will begin the reccee soon and zero in on a leading lady,” said a source close to the production house.

Interestingly, Ek Villain, a revenge drama, is the only film that brought the actor some success at the box office, while his other films Kapoor & Sons (2016), A Gentleman (2017) and Aiyaary (2018) didn't fare well.

Now, is this project with Kapoor, Malhotra's second chance at stardom? The makers certainly believe so. “The duo hopes to recreate the magic with their reunion,” the source said.
