Filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi to be honoured with JC Daniel Award

Filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi was on Wednesday (28 March) has been named as the winner of prestigious JC Daniel Award for 2017 in recognition of his sterling contributions to the Malayalam film industry.
JC Daniel Award is Kerala's highest award in Malayalam cinema.
Thampi, 78, began his caeer in the Malayalam film industry in 1966 as a lyricist and went on to produce 25 films, direct 29, write scripts for 85, besides writing thousands of songs.
Expressing happiness, Thampi said that the award is a real recognition for his hard work he put in for over half a century.
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs5 lakh and a citation, would be given next month along with the Kerala State Film Awards.
Filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan (2016), KG George (2015), IV Sasi (2014), and MT Vasudevan Nair (2013) are some of the recipients in previous years.
