Spat between directors Gautham Menon, Karthick Naren out in the open

A war of words seems to have broken out between promising young director Karthick Naren, who shot to fame with his debut film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), and ace film director and producer Gautham Vasudev Menon.

Gautham was among the first to be impressed by Karthick's skills. In fact, he was so impressed that he chose to produce the young director's next film, Naragasooran.

However, while making Naragasooran, the relationship between the two seems to have soured.

Karthick was the first to drop hints that all was not well between him and his producer.

He tweeted, "Sometimes, a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit. Threshold!"

At this point, it wasn't clear who the director was taking a dig at.

However, Gautham soon responded by posting a link to a video on his Twitter page and stating, "While some young filmmakers whine about their passion getting butchered instead of growing a pair, here's a young team that makes an interesting short about girls, women, cricket, CSK and liberation. What a connect. So very nicely done!"

Karthick was swift to respond to this taunt of the ace director.

He tweeted, "While everybody advised against it, I had the pair to trust you and collaborate sir. In return, we were treated like trash and made to invest on our own. Please don't do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts!"
