Farhan Akhar quits Facebook, to be available on Twitter

While he did not specify the reason, the move could have been prompted by the ongoing data row that has rocked the UK and caused privacy concerns around the world too.

Actor Farhan Akhtar has quit Facebook. He will now be accessible only through Twitter. The actor made the announcement early this morning.

“Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active,” tweeted Akhtar.

While he did not specify the reason for quitting Facebook, the move could have been prompted by the ongoing data row that has rocked the United Kingdom and caused privacy concerns around the world too.

UK-based social media company Cambridge Analytica has been at the centre of the controversy for allegedly using personal information harvested from more than 50 million Facebook profiles without permission to build a system that could target US voters with personalised political advertisements based on their profiles.

Professionally, Akhtar was last seen in Lucknow Central (2017).
