After Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain (2014), Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor will reunite for a film called Shotgun Shaadi.
Interestingly, the film will see Malhotra play a Bihari who speaks Bhojpuri, as per a report in the Deccan Chronicle newspaper.
Not so long ago, the actor was trolled online for allegedly insulting Bhojpuri on a reality television show. Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari and actress Neetu Chandra had also slammed him for his comment. Malhotra had later apologized.
Nothing more is known about Shotgun Shaadi yet except that it will be shot in Bihar. The title suggests that it will be a romantic film with a good deal of comedy.
Incidentally, Shotgun is the nickname given to veteran Hindi film star Shatrughan Sinha, who hails from Bihar. It will be interesting to see if the film makes any reference to Sinha.
Shotgun Shaadi will be directed by first-timer Prashant Singh who earlier assisted filmmaker Aanand L Rai on Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Raanjhanaa (2013). He was also an assistant director on Bas Ek Pal (2006), Aladin (2009) and Issaq (2013).
Shraddha Kapoor’s last hit was Baaghi (2016) while Sidharth Malhotra’s was Kapoor & Sons (2016).
