Ever since producer Preeti Simoes posted a picture of stand-up comedian Sunil Grover and Bigg Boss 11 winner Shilpa Shinde on her Instagram account about a week ago, there has been a lot of excitement among fans about these two coming together for a TV show.

As it turns out, their collaboration will be a webseries helmed by Preeti and her sister Neeti Simoes.

Preeti has previously worked as creative director on Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show before falling out with the comedian, with whom Grover also had a public spat late last year.

According to a report in the Indian Express newspaper, the webseries marrying cricket and comedy will be launched during the upcoming Indian Premier League T20 series, which will be kicked off on 7 April.

The newspaper quoted a source as saying, "At a time when makers are scared to launch new shows during the IPL, Preeti and Neeti have decided to dive straight into the ocean during cricket season. They are working on a one-of-a-kind show for the digital world that will bring together cricket and comedy. Sunil and Shilpa will play commentators and discuss the ongoing IPL matches. It would be on the lines of Extraa Innings, only much more fun."

The script is currently being worked upon and an official announcement will be made as soon as the two artistes sign their contracts.

Since the IPL will be aired on Star Sports this year, the buzz is that Shinde and Grover's show will be streamed on the digital platform Hotstar, which airs shows from most of the Star channels.

Shilpa Shinde, who has made a mark with her comedy in TV shows like Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, Lapataganj and Chidiya Ghar, will be seen in an all-new avatar in the webseries.

Interestingly, the actress was supposed to join The Kapil Sharma Show in 2016 but could not on account of being banned by CINTAA (the Cine and TV Artistes' Association).

Fans of Grover have been waiting to see him back in action ever since he quit the show Comedy Nights With Kapil after their infamous tiff last year.
