Box office: Hiccup-free opening weekend for Rani Mukerji’s Hichki


Hichki opened with an average collection of Rs3.25 crore on Friday. But the film showed an impressive growth of about 60% on Saturday as it made Rs5.25 crore.

Director Siddharth P Malhotra’s Hichki has managed quite well in its first weekend at the India box office. The Rani Mukerji-starrer has made around Rs15 crore nett in the first three days, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

Hichki opened with an average collection of Rs3.25 crore on Friday. But the film showed an impressive growth of about 60% on Saturday as it made Rs5.25 crore. It was important for the film to keep the momentum going on Sunday and it managed to do that. The Sunday number of the film was Rs6.50 crore.

As per trade sources, Hichki is made at a budget around Rs20 crore. With Rs15 crore already in its kitty, it stands a chance of turning out to be a safe bet for the producers, Yash Raj Films. A total of Rs15 crore in the opening weekend may not sound too impressive, but considering the budget, it's a good number.

Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid also had a good second weekend as it amassed Rs15.25 crore in the three days. The film, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, is made at a high budget of Rs70 crore. But it has already earned Rs75 crore nett and its box office journey is far from over.
