The makers of the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Missing seem to be in a hurry. The thriller, directed by Mukul Abhyankar, saw its first poster being launched today and, soon after, the trailer followed.
The trailer was tweeted by actor John Abraham on his social media account. The film will see Bajpayee reunite with Tabu after a decade.
The trailer begins right in the middle of a mystery with Mr and Mrs Dubey (Bajpayee and Tabu) informing the police that their daughter, Titli, is missing. As the investigation, led by Annu Kapoor, progresses, more mysterious details emerge.
Whether it is the strange man in the resort (Kali Prasad Mukherjee) or the restaurant manager who is having an affair with Mr Dubey, there are elements that don't fit in with the events. But these are not the only hindrances to the investigation. Mr and Mrs Dubey might not even be a couple.
The trailer carries its mystery well, with a very Hercule Poirot-like Kapoor leading the way. Tabu and Bajpayee play the couple hiding a secret, and at the risk of unraveling completely. However, scenes of melodrama within the trailer act as a dampener to the buildup. Hopefully, the film manages to skirt the element to provide the mystery it promises.
Missing marks the directorial debut of Abhyankar, and is also the first film of Manoj Bajpayee Productions. The film is being jointly produced by Shri Adhikari Brothers, Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Manoj Bajpayee Productions. It is set to be released on 6 April.
