Music composer Abhishek Arora, who has been a music programmer for many years, has come up with a soft and groovy tune in the form of 'Theher Ja', his first song for a feature film.
A romantic song, this track from October is sung by Armaan Malik in his breezy style.
The lyrics by Abhiruchi Chand like 'theher ja tu kisi bahane se' and 'zara zara sa dooba rehta hoon' are simple and pretty straightforward.
Despite its lovely rhythm and easy alaaps, there is nothing that makes the song stand out. But it's the kind that feels really soothing and grows on you with repeated listening. It's a subtle background track. The guitar riff that plays through the song has an uncanny resemblance to electronic band Daft Punk's, 'Get Lucky'.
The video shows clips of lead actors Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu exchanging glances while going about their daily duties as a hotel's housekeeping staff, hinting at an attraction between the two. Then there's the same gloom to this video that one felt when watching the trailer, despite the song's easy-breezy feel.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, October will be released in theatres on 13 April.
