Actor Sanjay Dutt will return to the comedy genre as he has signed a film titled Blockbuster. The movie will be helmed by debutant directors Ajay Arora and Lovel Arora, and is written by the hit comic duo Sajid-Farhad. The film is supposed to be a multi-starrer, but the rest of the cast has not been revealed.
Speaking about the film, Dutt said in an official statement, “I have always loved doing comedy. It is the genre that makes me feel at home. The scale of Blockbuster is huge and multi-starrers always connect well with audiences. I am really excited about working with Sandeep again.”
Blockbuster is produced by Sandeep Singh who also produced Dutt’s last film, Bhoomi (2017). Sarbjit (2016) and Aligarh (2015) were also his productions, while he was the co-producer of Mary Kom (2014).
The director duo is excited to work with Dutt as first-time directors who have tried comedy with the actor have succeeded in the past. “This is a huge opportunity for us. All the directors from Rajkumar Hirani to David Dhawan who have debuted with Sanjay have had fabulous success. We are very excited and even more so because it's Sanjay that we would be directing for our debut,” said Ajay and Lovel.
Blockbuster will go on the floors in April.
