Quite a few speculations have been made about Priyanka Chopra's next Hindi film. The actress, who was rumoured to be taking up the Kalpana Chawla (the late American astronaut of Indian origin) biopic, is now tipped to have signed Bharat, starring Salman Khan and to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
DNA, a daily, quoted a source as saying, “Priyanka has also worked with Ali in Gunday (2014) and shares a good rapport with him. This film will see the three of them collaborate for the first time.”
As per the report, Zafar is said to have met Chopra in New York where he narrated the story to her.
The actress arrived in Mumbai on 19 March after wrapping up the shoot of American television series Quantico in New York. She will be in the city for the next 3-4 days to finalise on a Hindi film before heading to Ireland to shoot the Quantico season 3 finale.
Chopra, who was last seen in Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal (2016), had posted an Instagram story strongly hinting that she was close to signing her next Hindi film but refused to reveal any details.
Efforts to contact Chopra and Zafar yielded no response. If Chopra does take up Bharat, this would be her fourth film with Salman Khan. The duo have previuosly worked together in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Salaam-E-Ishq (2007) and God Tussi Great Ho (2008).
Bharat is the official remake of Korean film Ode To My Father (2014). The film will span across seven decades starting with India’s Independence in 1947.
