Kodak to join Reframing the Future of Film event with Christopher Nolan in Mumbai

While the arrival of Hollywood director Christopher Nolan in Mumbai to talk about restoring and working with the 70mm film is an exciting event, there is another development that has added to it. The event, Reframing The Future, hosted by the Film Heritage Foundation, will see Kodak CEO, Jeff Clarke, join Nolan at the discussion. 

As part of a visit to revive film and film collaborations in India, Kodak CEO Clarke will join the motion picture film director Nolan, artist Tacita Dean, founder of the Film Heritage Foundation Shivendra Singh Dungarpur and other leaders of India’s film and cinematography industry in a roundtable discussion, a highlight of the upcoming Reframing the Future of Film 4 event.

The roundtable aims to spark a conversation about the importance of shooting on film, preserving and archiving on film, and projecting film as an essential part of visual experience and history. 

Speaking about the event, Clarke, said, "The global enthusiasm for film continues to thrive, especially here in India." 

He added, "Mumbai is one of the centres of the motion picture industry, and Kodak looks forward to growing our presence here and seeing more projects shot on film." 

In addition to the roundtable, other activities will highlight the necessity of preserving photochemical film in the digital age. This includes a screening of Christopher Nolan’s Academy Award-nominated film Dunkirk (2017), which will be projected on KODAK 70mm film. Artist Dean will deliver a public lecture at the Bhau Daji Lad Museum.

Kodak will also host a series of Super 8 and Super 16mm film workshops for enthusiasts and cinematographers.

The Reframing the Future of Film 4 event will take place from 30 March to 2 April in Mumbai.
