Madhuri Dixit to step into Sridevi's shoes for Shiddat, confirms Janhvi


Janhvi's Instagram post suggested that Madhuri Dixit-Nene will take on the role that was to be played by her mother in Abhishek Varman's Shiddat.

Sridevi's sudden demise arrived with more than just shock for the Hindi film fraternity. However, it seems like the family is slowly getting back on their feet. While daughter Janhvi has already started work on Dhadak, she has also revealed that another of Sridevi's films will go on without her.

Janhvi's Instagram post suggested that Madhuri Dixit-Nene will take on the role that was to be played by her mother in Abhishek Varman's Shiddat.

The film, also produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, was initially put on the back-burner after Sridevi's demise. The film will have the star pairing of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, and also feature Aditya Roy Kapur in a pivotal role.

Reports had initially suggested that Johar had declined on making any progress on the project until all the rituals of Sridevi's last rites had been completed. It seems the producer-director is now ready to take the project further.

The film is also rumoured to have Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha make guest appearances.

Dhawan's next October, directed by Shoojit Sircar, will be released on 13 April. The actor also has Shree Narayan Singh's Sui Dhaaga lined up to hit the screens later in the year.
