Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer arrested in CDR scam

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui has been arrested by the Thane crime branch for allegedly buying CDR (Call Data Records) of the actor's wife's phone illegally to spy on her.

According to the police, the arrest was made after the lawyer recorded his statement. He will be produced in the court soon.

A police officer told Hindustan Times, a daily, “Rizwan Siddiqui came to record his statement today, and after it was confirmed that he obtained CDRs from one of the accused, we arrested him. We will soon produce him in court.”

In his statement Rizwan confessed to have obtained the data from Prashant Palekar, who was recently arrested in the CDR scam.

So far, the crime branch has arrested 12 detectives. Four private detectives were arrested by the Thane crime branch on 24 January for allegedly selling CDR for Rs25,000 to Rs50,000.

Nawazuddin’s name also came up during the investigation last month.

Rizwan is known for fighting criminal cases for well-known Hindi film celebrities. He was Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer in her infamous war with Hrithik Roshan.
