Nikkhil Advani receives permissions for film on Operation Batla House

Filmmaker, producer Nikkhil Advani is ready for his next film based on Operation Batla House.

The project has been in the pipeline for a while given the sensitive nature of the subject. It was feared that the director might find it difficult to get the necessary permissions for making the film.

Advani, though, has claimed he has recieved all the required NOCs to get started.

“We have touched upon real life incidents earlier with films like Lucknow Central (2017) and Airlift (2016). We have been doing research on the subject of Batla House for four years, we have NOC from everybody. It is based on the life of a police officer who was involved in the Batla House operation,” Advani told Press Trust of India, a news agency.

“As a production house, we make sure that we do a thorough research so the director has all the things ready. We will start the shoot from September-October,” he added.

The Operation Batla House took place on 19 September 2008, when two alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists, Atif Amin and Mohamed, were gunned down in the Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi.

The operation was led by encounter specialist and Delhi Police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who was killed in the incident. Saif Ali Khan is tipped to play Sharma's character in the film.

The shoot is expected to begin once Khan wraps up Bazaar, that is written by Advani.
