Neeraj Pandey to produce Vikram Vedha Hindi remake

The Hindi remake will be helmed by Pushkar and Gayatri, who also directed the original Tamil film.

Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey is all set to produce in Hindi the Tamil blockbuster Vikram Vedha (2017). Directed by Pushkar and Gayatri, the film featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. It instantly struck a chord with the audiences and critics alike.

The film will be produced by Y Not Studios and Plan C Sudios which is a collaboration of Reliance Entertainment, and Pandey and Shital Bhatia’s Friday Filmworks. Plan C Studios have made films like Rustom (2016), Naam Shabana (2017) and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017).

Vikram Vedha was based on the Indian folktale Vikram Betaal. The film is about a tough and ruthless cop (Madhavan) who sets out to finish off a dangerous criminal (Sethupathi).

Talking about the film, Shibasish Sarkar, COO of Reliance Entertainment said in an official statement, “Vikram Vedha is one of the best films to be made in recent times. This incredible collaboration is also a coming together of a dream creative team that would do true justice to a film like that.”

Pandey added, “Vikram Vedha is a unique film and this story has to be retold to the Hindi audience world over. We have all grown up on the Vikram Betaal mythology, but this out-of-the-box contemporary treatment makes it a must see movie.”

The Hindi remake will also be helmed by Pushkar and Gayatri. There is no word on the cast as of now.
