The stand-off between the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) and the Digital Service Providers (DSPs) has intensified further with the council deciding to bring the Tamil film industry to a complete halt from 23 March.
The TFPC had earlier banned theatres from releasing any new film in Tamil Nadu from March 3 in protest against the DSP's charging producers exhorbitant prices for their services.
The Council has now declared that all film shooting schedules currently underway in Chennai will have to be stopped from March 16 and the Tamil film units shooting outside the state will have to stop work from 23 March. Further, the post-production work of all Tamil films will have to be stopped 16 March onwards.
Reiterating that its earlier decision to not release any new film will continue to be in effect, the TFPC stated that no film related events like audio or teaser launches will be allowed from 16 March either. The Council also forbade producers from issuing film related content to the media during the strike period.
