Cricket and films have had a very integral connection over the last couple of years, and Sonam Kapoor's next might just see the connection continue. The actress released the first look of her next film, The Zoya Factor, opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film is based on author Anuja Chauhan's bestselling fiction novel, that tells the story of a girl who is inextricably connected with India's rise in cricket.

Director Abhishek Sharma has reportedly approved the final draft of the film, and it is expected to go on the floors in August. The film is being scheduled to be released on 5 April 2019.

The first look of the film has been released by its makers. It features the two stars peeking out from behind the covers of Anuja Chauhan's book. Dulquer is expected to play the captain of the Indian cricket team, Nikhil Khoda, who shares a frosty relationship with the young girl considered to be a mascot for the team.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, director Sharma said, "Cricket woven into a rom-com and touching on superstition and luck, it’s an amazing book for a screen adaptation. The book has many layers, characters and tracks, so it took Neha Rakesh Sharma some time to pen a tight screenplay and Pradhuman Singh to write the dialogues. Now, we’ve gone back to Anuja who’s happy with the script to polish it and work on additional dialogues as nobody knows the characters better than he."

The film is produced by Fox Star Studios in association with Pooja and Aarti Shetty's Adlabs films.
