Though not quite a juggernaut, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has continued to surprise one and all with its box office performance. The film, directed by Luv Ranjan, had a good third weekend bagging Rs9.75 crore nett.

In the process, the film has surpassed the earnings of Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, that had released on 9 February. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety released two weeks later.
The much fancied Akshay Kumar film failed to live up to the expectations and had to make do with just Rs79-80 crore nett in its India business.
Pad Man had released across 2,700 screens while Sonu Ke Titu Ki Seety got around 1,500 screens in India. The former’s estimated budget was Rs70 crore while the latter’s estimated budget is pegged at Rs40 crore.

Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma’s Pari continues to crawl at the box office bagging just Rs2.95 crore nett in its second weekend, taking its India total thus far to Rs23.92 crore nett.
Next Friday (16 March), Ajay Devgn’s Raid will be the big draw. It remains to be seen how well Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety fares in the coming weeks.
