Akshaye Khanna goes dapper in his first look from The Accidental Prime Minister

The actor is reportedly playing the part of author Sanjaya Baru in the film.

Akshaye Khanna is set to play author Sanjaya Baru in the film The Accidental Prime Minister, based on Baru's eponymous novel of the same name. In the first look shared on Twitter, the actor looks dapper, dressed in a suit and chomping on a cigar. 

A report in The Economic Times, a daily, confirmed the news and quoted Khanna as saying, "I am thrilled and excited to be a part of a venture which will be path breaker, a game changer at many levels." 

The film, directed by Vijay Gutte, is scheduled to be released on 21 December 2018, and will see Anupam Kher essay the role of former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Baru was media advisor and chief spokesperson between 2004 and 2008 in Manmohan Singh's tenure as prime minister of India. 

The film will also see UK born Indian actor Arjun Mathur take on the role of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi.
