Actress Soha Ali Khan had earlier confirmed that she will be co-producing a biopic on India’s famous lawyer Ram Jethmalani along with Ronnie Screwvala.

“Yes, I am going to be producing the biopic on Ram along with Ronnie Screwvala. We will start filming in 2018,” she said at a recent event.

In January, a few unconfirmed reports suggested that filmmaker Hansal Mehta has been roped in to direct the film. While Khan confirmed that a director has been chosen, she refused to reveal the name. “We have found a director for the film, but I cannot reveal the name now,” she added.

Jethmalani has had a long career as a lawyer. He was also the Union minister of law and justice from June 1999 to July 2000.

According to Khan, the lead actor will be cast after a decision is made on which part of the lawyer’s life will be focused on in the film. “Ram is almost 95 years old and he has had a career spanning seven decades. So, it will all depend on which decade we are choosing and the actor will be cast accordingly,” she said.

The lawyer is known for taking up high profile and controversial cases. He defended those accused in the assassinations of India’s former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Manu Sharma in Jessica Lal murder case, Harshad Mehta and Ketan Parekh in the stock market scam, Amit Shah in the Soharabuddin fake encounter case, Asaram Bapu in the sexual assault case, among a few.

It would be interesting to see how many of these high profile cases are included int he film.
