John Abraham's Parmanu avoids clash with Blackmail, could compete with Alia Bhatt's Raazi

Actor John Abraham's much delayed film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is set to be delayed further. The film that was earlier slated to be released on 6 April, has been postponed. Buzz has it that the film could now come on 11 May, which marks the 20th anniversary of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear tests.

Parmanu is co-produced by Zee Studios, KriArj Entertainment, Kyta Productions and JA Entertainment.  

A reliable source closely associated with the project informed, “The producers are yet to work out a promotional strategy. The film will not come out on 6 April. Zee Studios will take a call on the release date that will be decided in the coming week. 11 May is the anniversary of the Pokhran II tests. That point will be taken into account before the producers decide on the new release date.”

If the makers decide to opt for a 11 May release, then Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran will compete with Alia Bhatt’s Raazi.

As per a report in Mid-Day newspaper, one of the reasons attributed to the delay was the pending VFX work.

Director Abhishek Sharma has refuted the claim. “The film is completely ready for release. All work is completed. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the release,” said the director.

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran is based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998. The film also stars Diana Penty and Boman Irani.
