The trailer of Abhimanyu Mukherjee’s second film Piya Re’s was launched yesterday (8 June). The film marks the return of the famous on-screen pair, Soham Chakraborty and Srabanti Chatterjee. They were last seen together in Birsa Dasgupta’s Shudhu Tomari Jonyo (2015).

Mukherjee’s romantic drama revolves around the story of Rabi (Soham) and his love interest Ria (Srabanti). Going by the trailer, Rabi is completely immersed in his imaginary world as he falls in love with Ria and is laughed at by people for his condition. Ria, who comes from a slum, perfectly understands what is in his heart and reciprocates as well.

The trailer promises suspense and an action-packed plot as Ria suddenly disappears after a secret exchange with an anonymous man. Rabi, on his part, sets out on a mission to rescue Ria. Meanwile, the shots showting Ria’s desperate and yet helpless situation generates intrigue for the film.

While Charakborty’s act seems a bit clichéd, Chatterjee looks all set to surprise the audience in a new avatar. Kanchan Mullick and Supriya Dutta too will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

Piya Re has been shot in Kolkata and various locations in North Bengal. The music of the film has been scored by Jeet Ganguly. Despite being a romantic film, the trailer holds more promises in its suspense elements.
