The upcoming independent film, Love Sonia, boasts of a large ensemble cast of international and Indian artistes. Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Richa Chadha, Anupam Kher, Freida Pinto, Adil Hussain, Sai Tamhankar, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass, Riya Sisodiya and child actor Sunny Parwar, of Lion (2017) fame, are all part of the film's cast. Actress Mrunal Thakur, who will next be seen opposite Hrithik Roshan in Super 30 (2019), plays the title character.

Thakur, along with Bajpayee, Rao, Chadha, Tamhankar and Sisodiya, will be present in England as the film opens the Bagri Foundation's London Indian Film Festival on 21 June. First-time filmmaker Tabrez Noorani, who has been the Indian line producer on Hollywood films such as Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and Life Of Pi (2012), will also be present for a question and answer session after the screening.

Love Sonia, which is set in India, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, follows a young village girl who gets entrenched in the global sex trade when she tries to free herself and her sister. The film is said to be inspired by true events.

"We were keen to make a project for a global platform which would speak volumes about an issue which is a terrible problem faced by almost every community, and which has not been adequately addressed. This movie attempts to cast light on this issue," Noorani had earlier said in a statement.

The London Indian Film Festival will be held in London from 21 June to 1 July.
