Box office: Veere Di Wedding earns Rs5.25 crore on first Monday

After an impressive first weekend, director Shashanka Ghosh’s Veere Di Wedding had a good hold on its first Monday (4 June) at the domestic box office. The film, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam K Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania, managed to earn Rs5.25 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by Boxofficeindia.com.

Veere Di Wedding review: Some fun, lots of chaos

After opening at Rs10.75 crore on Friday (1 June), the film continued its good run during the next two days, earning Rs11.50 crore on Saturday (2 June) and Rs12.75 crore on Sunday (3 June).

The grand total of Veere Di Wedding currently stands at Rs40.25 crore. However, the film's budget should also be kept in mind. As per trade sources, Veere Di Wedding is made at a cost of Rs40-45 crore. Thus, the film will need to continue with its firm run at the box office for a few more days.

With Hollywood film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom releasing on 7 June, Veere Di Wedding might be in for some tough competition.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero review: A good vigilante story let down by weak plot, dispassionate acting

Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, that also released on 1 June, continued its disastrous run at the box office. The film, starring Harshvardhan Kapoor, earned a meagre Rs90-95 lakh during the weekend and made Rs12-13 lakh on Monday. The film's total is a litte over Rs1 crore.
