While the famed composer has agreed, the job is challenging as the song is already shot.

Composer AR Rahman has joined the Sanju team as a guest composer and will work on two songs for the biopic on veteran actor Sanjay Dutt, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Interestingly, this is the first time director Rajkumar Hirani and Rahman will work together.

The association, however, was not planned. Reportedly, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra was not happy with one of the songs in Sanju and they decided to approach Rahman for help. While the famed composer agreed, the job was challenging as the song was already shot.

“Since the song had already been shot, it wouldn't have been possible to record another number and re-shoot it. So, we needed someone to create a new song keeping in mind these visuals. Considering it required tremendous expertise, Vinod suggested Rahman’s name. We called him and he immediately agreed to help us. I was touched by his humility,” Hirani said in an official statement.

The filmmaker was bowled over by Rahman’s dedication. “It does not matter what time he works at or which part of the globe he works from. He is immensely talented, and his understanding of cinema is so strong that he can enhance your images with his music. He adapts to what you want,” Hirani added.

Rahman, too, was quite interested and curious to work with the duo. "I was always curious to know how the magical team of Mr Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Mr Raju [Rajkumar] Hirani created these bold blockbusters together,” Rahman said.

“I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call to be a guest composer on this one. I loved the whole process of creating the songs along with Irshad Kamil. Hope you like my two songs! Wishing the best to the whole creative team!” added the composer.

Rest of the songs for the film are composed by Rohan-Rohan and Vikram Montrose.

Sanju is all set to be released on 29 June.
