Sanju song 'Main Bhi Badhiya': Ranbir, Sonam have some fun on the streets of Bombay

With the two artistes lip-synching to the voices of opposite genders, the song continues the trend started by the gang of girls in Veere Di Wedding.

We recently saw Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania lip-sync to male singer Badshah’s voice in the ‘Tareefan’ song in the recently released Veere Di Wedding. Looks like the girls have set a new trend, for Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam K Ahuja are now seen singing to the tune of opposite genders in the ‘Main Bhi Badhiya Tu Bhi Badhiya’ song from Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju.

Unlike a conventional romantic number, this song is more like a fun conversation between lovers. Ranbir as Sanjay Dutt, is with his friends at a posh restaurant in south Mumbai (then Bombay) and takes up the task of lip-synching to both male and female singers performing on-stage, as a challenge. Composer duo Rohan-Rohan have come up with a peppy and fun tune. The song will grow on you and will make you want to listen to it on loop.

Singers Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan are in top form. While the former comes as a surprise has he hardly takes up projects these days, the latter does justice to the song and the era it is based in. Chauhan has purposely kept the nasal tone to match the style famous during the 1980s.

It is evident that the song takes place when Dutt is not a star yet and has worked in only a handful of films. Ranbir impresses with his childish antics, and Sonam matches his energy. She plays one of Dutt’s love interests in the film.

Sanju is all set to be released on 29 June.
