There are enough screens for both films: John Abraham on Satyameva Jayate and Gold clash

The actor-producer is unfazed by his film's clash with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold.

Actor-producer John Abraham has had a long spell of unsuccessful films. The negative streak ended with director Abhishek Sharma’s Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran (2018), which was also produced by the actor. The film might not have been a big hit, but it certainly did above-average business.

It seems Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran has infused fresh confidence in John. His next film, Satyameva Jayate, will clash with Reema Kagti’s Gold, starring actor Akshay Kumar. Both films are this year’s Independence Day releases.

Asked about the clash, John said, “Akshay is a friend and I wish him the best. As a producer, I think two films can be released on the same day. There are enough screens for two films to be released. Both films are different with different genres.”

While highlighting that Satyameva Jayate is different, director Milap Zaveri said, “This is a commercial film. There is patriotism, action, drama, music, dialoguebaazi. I wish Gold the best also and touchwood, how many ever films come that day do well, do great business and be appreciated by people.”

Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se, which stars the Deol family members Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby, will also be released the same day. When co-producer Nikkhil Advani was asked if there was any chance of the three producers deciding to change the release dates, he said, “We are coming on the 15th [August]. I don’t know anything else.”
