In current times, it is quite difficult to differentiate between a film's teaser and trailer. But the teaser of director Sandeep Modi’s Marathi film Chumbak (2018) is actually a teaser in the real sense. It is short, to the point and gives a good idea about the film, that is presented by Hindi film actor Akshay Kumar.
Lyricist-turned-actor Swanand Kirkire has played quite a few effective supporting characters. But Chumbak is the first film where he will be seen as a leading man. His character is a mentally challenged person.
The teaser only features one situation. Kirkire's character and an adolescent kid are sitting one behind the other in a bus and both want the bigger view from the window. Ultimately, the kid finds a solution. The dialogue-less sequence smartly gives a lesson in sharing.
The teaser succesfully shows Kirkire's character's childish antics. He was been nominated in the Best Actor category at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) for Chumbak. Kirkire recently said that he was taken aback when he was approached to play the lead character in this film.
Also starring Sahil Jadhav and Sangram Desai, Chumbak will be released on 27 July.
