The Accidental Prime Minister, a film adaptation of Sanjaya Baru's memoir of the same name, has been unveiling its cast of key characters, one by one since last week. Directed by by first-time filmmaker Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, the film stars Anupam Kher as former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru, Singh's media advisor.
Actrees Divya Seth Shah was revealed as Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur and newcomer Ram Avatar Bhardwaj will play another former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This time around, the film introduced the two artistes who will play siblings Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi. Actor Arjun Mathur is Rahul Gandhi, while Aahana Kumra is Priyanka Gandhi.
Kher introduced an image of the trio on Twitter from a scene in the film as way of announcing their casting. It seems the event the film is recreating is Singh's oath ceremony in 2004.

At first glance, the casting is spot on. Both Kumra and Mathur fit the bill in this still of the sibling in conversation with Kher's character Manmohanan Singh. The makers seem to have gone to great lengths to recreate certain events and characters from Singh's life.
