Love, nostalgia, complications and a bright and yellow Punjab dominate the teaser for Shelly Chopra Dhar's upcoming, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The teaser builds on the nostalgia of its title, taken from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1942 A Love Story (1994). From the opening of the teaser to its tune and a montage from the 1994 film, the teaser captures the difference between the simple and complex tales of love.
The film seems to be set around the wedding of Sonam K Ahuja's character with Rajkummar Rao, with Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla playing the doting parents. The sights of the quartet dancing on a disco themed dance floor, with the rest of their relatives, looks like a page out of Sonam's own wedding this year to Anand Ahuja.
However, as the line goes 'There is always a problem in the way of true love. If not, the feel won't be the same'. While the 'siyapa' (problem) is not revealed, the teaser does imply the consequences of it. Sonam's character seems to be going against the wishes of her father, Anil. The reasons though, are kept well hidden.
The teaser has a bright, happy feel to it with the last visual of a village surrounded by vast green and yellow mustard fields delivering the perfect feel of Punjab.
Another key element is the reprised tune of the song 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh' from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1994 film. The music to the film was compsoed by the late RD Burman.
Directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is produced jointly by Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios.
The film is speculated to be released in October this year.
