Actor Salman Khan and actress Priyanka Chopra will begin filming the period drama film, Bharat (2019), by next month. Director Ali Abbas Zafar unveiled a bit of how the lead characters will be depicted in the film which spans from India's Independence year 1947 until 2010.

Bharat (2019) is adapted from the popular South Korean film, Ode To My Father (2014), which followed the history of the country from the 1950s to 2010s. Therefore, Khan and Chopra's characters will have five different looks as they age in the film.

Zafar told the newspaper DNA, "[Chopra] will age from 28 to 60 years, while [Khan] will age from 25 to 65 years in the film.” It was earlier revealed by Zafar that the age-reduction techniques made popular through the Oscar-winning film The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008) starring Brad Pitt would be employed for Khan's character in the film. Pitt's character Benjamin Button ages in reverse during the film and the artists who worked on his make-up and visual effects picked Academy Awards for their astonishingly seamless work.

However, for Chopra's character, Zafar said the makers "will use a mix of prosthetics, make-up, and VFX" for her looks. Furthermore, he revealed that the team had been researching actresses from those eras to incorporate that look into film.

“Each of PC’s avatars will be modelled on actresses like Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Sharmila Tagore and Shabana Azmi. It will encompass the styles of each of these heroines from the 1960s to 2010," he told the newspaper.

Bharat, which also stars Tabu and Disha Patani, is due to be released in 2019 after finishing the shoot this year to allow ample time for the visual effects artistes to bring to life India's journey from Independence.
