Director-producer Karan Johar has rubbished various reports suggesting that his next directorial venture would have actresses Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor. He insisted that no actor had even read his script.

A report by Planet Bollywood, an entertainment bulletin on Zoom TV, stated that Johar had roped in Bhatt as the lead actress, while Kapoor would play a cameo role.

“Lots of conjecture and unnecessary stories on my directorial next!!!! Just to make clear not a single actor has heard or read the script of my next film!!!!! Everything you read or hear is Hearsay!,” tweeted Johar.

Johar last directed Lust Stories (2018), an anthology released exclusively on digital streaming platform, Netflix.

There has been a great curiosity over what Johar would take up next. Early this month, Johar told Hindustan Times that he couldn't wait to work with actor Shah Rukh Khan again. The filmmaker didn’t say in certain terms that Khan would star in his next film.

There have been no official word on Khan’s next, though he is rumoured to have given his nod for the biopic on astronaut Rakesh Sharma, called Salute. Bhatt has signed for Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s next and she is currently working on Dharma Productions’ Brahmastra.
