Mainstream Hindi cinema’s affair with remixed old Hindi songs refuses to die. Despite criticism from a section of the audience, almost every alternate week a remix of a song from the yesteryears emerges.
The latest to join the bandwagon is Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, for which the hit 1990s song ‘Aankh Maare’ will be remixed.
As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, the song from Tere Mere Sapne (1996) will be picturised on the film’s lead pair, Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. The original was picturised on actor Arshad Warsi and actress Simran, who is known for being a sensation down south. But the main lead of Tere Mere Sapne was Chandrachur Singh and Priya Gill.
The original was sung by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy, two of the most sought after singers from the 1990s. It is not known as to who will be singing the recreated version. The report also mentions that the song will be composed by Tanishk Bagchi.
Directed by Joy Augustine, Tere Mere Sapne was produced by Amitabh Bachchan under his banner, ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited), which went bankrupt.
Simmba is the official adaptation of Puri Jagannadh’s superhit Telugu film Temper (2015), which featured NT Rama Rao Junior and Kajal Aggarwal.
