The legend of former India hockey player Sandeep Singh lies in his undying spirit.

A promising young talent's career and life hit the crossroads, after he was left paralysed in a shooting accident. Only a person with true grit and determination can overcome such odds and achieve his/her dream.

Singh’s successful return to hockey after a near fatal experience is what will be the highlight of his upcoming biopic Soorma.

The makers today released the 'Soorma Anthem', which underlines how Singh overcame all hurdles to not only get back on his feet, but also fulfil his dream of playing for India again. Win or lose, that became immaterial, but the real inspiration is how Singh got back on his feet and on to the field.

Diljit Dosanjh plays Singh in Soorma. The film also features Taapsee Pannu.

Veteran lyricist and poet Gulzar carves an inspirational line that summarise the plight of Singh, and pays tribute to his undying fighting spirit. Singh found a helping hand in his friend, Bikramjeet (Angad Bedi).

If Gulzar scores with the words, then Shankar Mahadevan perfectly emotes the predicament of Singh with his voice. Like Singh, there is a purpose, a motto that comes through Mahadevan’s singing. And he does full justice to the track by producing a gripping, inspirational score. The song can be an anthem for those seeking inspiration amidst struggles.

Soorma is directed by Shaad Ali and will be released on 13 July.
