John Abraham's Batla House to go on floors in September

Director Nikkhil Advani will start rolling his next film based on a real-life incident, titled Batla House, in September. Produced by Emmay Entertainment & Motion Pictures and Bake My Cake Films, the film is based on the infamous Batla House encounter and stars John Abraham in the lead.

This is the third collaboration between John and Advani, after Salaam-E-Ishq (2007) and the upcoming Satyameva Jayate.

The film's shoot will commence a month after Satyameva Jayate is released on 15 August. Batla House will be shot in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur in Nepal.

John will be seen playing the role of former assistant commissioner of police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who was the first officer to reach the place where the encounter took place. Yadav is currently the deputy commissioner of police. He is the winner of eight President Gallantry Awards.

Officially known as Operation Batla House, the encounter took place on 19 September 2008. Two Indian Mujahideen operatives, Atif Ameen and Mohammad Sajid, were killed during the encounter, while two others were arrested. One of them Ariz Khan, however, managed to escape. The event also saw the death of officer Mohan Chand Sharma, an encounter specialist.

The incident turned controversial when few political parties and activists accused the police of foul play after different versions of the encounter emerged. Finally, in July 2009, the Delhi high court gave a clean chit to the police, after reviewing the reccommendations of the National Human Rights Commission.
