John Abraham's first Marathi film Savita Damodar Paranjpe to be released on 31 August


The psychological thriller, starring Subodh Bhave and Trupti Toradmal, will show the inner workings in the lives of a married couple as hidden secrets emerge after eight years of marriage.

Coming off his successful home production of Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran (2018), actor-producer John Abraham is now venturing into Marathi films with Savita Damodar Paranjpe. The actor joins other Hindi stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Riteish Deshkmukh, to produce the film.

Savita Damodar Paranjpe, directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi, will star Subodh Bhave, Trupti Toradmal and Raqesh Bapat. The film is based on the famous Marathi play of the same name which had late Reema Lagoo and Rajan Tamhane playing the lead. The psychological thriller will show the inner workings in the lives of a married couple as hidden secrets emerge after eight years of marriage.

A joint production of JA Entertainment and Panorama Studios, the thriller is due to be released on 31 August, where it will go up against a number of Hindi films - the horror comedy Stree, Batti Gul Meter Chalu starring Shahid Kapoor, Sriram Raghavan's AndhaDhun and Leena Yadav's Rajma Chawal starring Rishi Kapoor. Two smaller films, Vishesh Films' Jalebi and Nila Madhab Panda's Halkaa are also due to hit the screens on the same day.
