Popular television actor Mohit Raina is set to make his Hindi film debut with Uri, a film based on the terror attack in Uri, Kashmir in 2016.

A source informed us that Raina will play one of the Indian Army officers who were martyred in the terror attack.

Interestingly, Raina once aspired to be an army officer himself in real life.

"It was my dream to join the Indian Army. Since that never got fulfilled, I make up for it by playing a soldier whenever I get a chance. Also, I have always taken up challenging roles on television. So, though I love commercial films, I wanted something different for my film debut as well. Uri has actors like Vicky Kaushal and Paresh Rawal, and it will be a learning experience working with them. Whether it is mythology, history or any other genre, the role has to be backed by strong content,” said Raina.

He recently played an army officer during the British Raj who fought against the marauding Afghan soldiers in a TV show, 21 Sarfarosh - Saragarhi 1897.

Uri is directed by Aditya Dhar also features Yami Gautam and Kirti Kulhari.

Raina had shot to fame by playing Lord Shiva in the popular show, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev. Among other actors who have made a successful shift from television to the big screen are Sushant Singh Rajput, Irrfan Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan.
