Actor Shahid Kapoor has pulled out of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards performance owing to a back spasm.
Sources close to the actor confirmed the development. The actor returned from Tehri in Uttarakhand where he was shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018). Upon his return, Kapoor began rehearsals for his performance at the 19th IIFA awards, which is scheduled to take place in Bangkok from 22 to 24 June.
"It was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm and was advised against any strenuous activity by the doctor. Although Shahid was scheduled to fly out to Thailand last night, he called off the plan. The IIFA organisers were fairly understanding about it,” said the source.
Meanwhile, there were concerns over the availability of actor Arjun Kapoor, who tweeted about being ill.
"I hate being sick... it’s such a dilemma sometimes do you medicate yourself and work through the sickness or rest it out and lose out on work and your time?" Arjun Kapoor tweeted.

However, a source close to the actor said Boney Kapoor's son would be flying out tonight and will perform as scheduled.
Injury has already forced actor Kartik Aaryan to pull out of his dance performance, though he will co-host the IIFA Rocks event with actor Ayushmann Khurrana.
