Hindi films and Switzerland share a healthy bond. With a trend of shooting romantic films started by the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, the destination has regularly made an appearance in mainstream Hindi films. Now, it is time for Marathi cinema to explore the destination.
The last schedule of actor Sachin Pilgaonkar’s next directorial venture Ashi Hi Ashiqui is currently being shot in the picturesque European country. It has become the first Marathi film to be shot in Switzerland. The team is shooting a couple of songs and few portions of the film over there.
The film is being shot in the ski resort village of Arosa, known for its snow-covered hills. It's a lesser known destination as far as shooting Indian films is concerned.
Abhinay Berde, son of the iconic star Laxmikant Berde, will play the lead role in the romantic film. The name of the lead actress is currently being kept under wraps.
Pilgonkar has shot and starred alongside a number of films with Abhinay’s father. The title Ashi Hi Ashiqui brings back memories of Pilgaonkar and Laxmikant Berde’s classic comedy Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi (1989), which also starred their close pal and actor Ashok Saraf.
Interestingly, the film also marks Pilgaonkar’s debut as a music composer. At the end of last year, celebrated singer Sonu Nigam had revealed this to Cinestaan.com. Nigam had also said that he has sung all the songs of the film. Pilgaonkar has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film.
Ashi Hi Ashiqui is Abhinay’s second film after his debut Ti Sadhya Kay Karte (2017). The film will be released on 14 December.
