Being a Hindi remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat (2016), Dhadak has also adapted a couple of songs like ‘Zingaat’ and ‘Yad Lagla' from the original.
The title track, ‘Dhadak’, is one of the original songs from the new film.
Composer duo Ajay-Atul, who scored music for Sairat, have been retained for Dhadak as well. Going by the the new, original song, the makers of Dhadak have made the right choice.
Like in Sairat, the duo have tried to retain the orchestral feel in ‘Dhadak’ too. The tune and the tempo is different, but the song does touch your heart.
Lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has once again penned some simple, yet effective poetry.
The song is further helped by Ajay Gogavale’s (of Ajay-Atul) passionate voice. Shreya Ghoshal, too, lends support as the voice for the lead actress, Janhvi Kapoor.
The chemistry between artistes Ishaan Khatter and Kapoor is decent. Ashutosh Rana, who plays a politician, also makes an appearance in one of the scenes.
The song is shot creatively by cinematographer Vishnu Rao. Given the palatial set-up and costumes, it seems a lot has been spent on the production. Fans of Sairat might be a tad disappointed since simplicity was the essence of the original Marathi film directed by Nagraj Manjule.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak will be released on 20 July.
