Filmmaker Anurag Basu introduced actress Kangana Ranaut in Hindi cinema by casting her as the leading lady in his underworld drama Gangster (2006), which also starred Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. In 2010, he cast her in Kites (2010), opposite Hrithik Roshan.

The Queen (2014) star is now all set for her third film with Basu, titled Imali, suggests a report in Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid.

Speaking about the development, the actress told the publication, “It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the end of the year. All I can say is that Anurag is my godfather and everything I am today is because of him. I can’t wait to go back to the beginning.”

Ranaut is currently shooting for director Prakash Kovelamudi’s Mental Hai Kya where she is cast opposite Rajkummar Rao. Following this, she will shoot for Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s yet untitled Kabaddi drama in October.

Earlier there was some buzz about a rift between Ranaut and Basu after Kites was released. The actress was allegedly not happy with the way her character shaped up and found her character different from what she was narrated. She had said that she did the film only because her mentor, Basu, was directing it. Reportedly, Basu had patched up the friendship after praising her for her performance in Queen.
