Shaan joins son, Shubh, in a new Father's Day song for peace and love

The singer has crooned 'Hukus Bukus' alongside son, Shubh, for Yoodlee Films' Hamid.

Father's Day might bring singer Shaan a memory of a lifetime. The singer has joined son, Shubh, to sing a wonderful children's song in the film, Hamid. The film produced by Yoodlee Films revolves around the story of a young boy trying to reach God to talk about the violence in Kashmir.

The song, based on a traditional Kashmiri folk song, also features Shaan alongside a young boy. Simple, rhythmic and infectious, the song has Shaan and the boy taking in the sights of Kashmir. What makes the song interesting is the use of the traditional kashmiri instruments like the rabaab which adds a very specific texture to the composition.

Shaan and Shubh add a beautiful touch to the song, although the lyrics seem a little routine and lacking in creativity. The 13-year old Shubh delivers with an accurate recitation of the Kashmiri version of the song as well.

Hamid revolves around the tale of an eight-year old boy who tries to make a phone call to God, in order to get him to stop the violence in the state. His call reaches a distraught and cynical Indian army officer tired of the violence himself. The relationship and conversations between these two characters make the film.

Speaking about the composition, Shaan said, "Composing this song was a wonderful experience. The song talks about how we are all the same when one divine power has created us all. I wanted to keep the original song as intact as possible, and yet lend it a beat that complements its signature tune and is catchy as well. My son has sung in this song with me and working with him makes the song that much more special."

Hamid is completely shot in Kashmir. The film is produced by Yoodlee Films, the film division of Saregama, who champions the cause of #FearlessFilmmaking.
