Writer-director Sujoy Ghosh's next Badla began shooting in Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday (13 June). The filmmaker reunites Pink (2016) co-stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu for his thriller.

Ghosh's last film was Kahaani 2 (2016), starring Vidya Balan. He won the National Award for Best Screenplay and the Filmfare award for best director for Kahaani (2012).

Badla (2019) is an official remake of the Spanish film Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest) which released theatrically in Spain in 2017.

Both Pannu and Bachchan seem excited about their upcoming collaboration. Bachchan, who has yet to reach the Badla set, wrote, "T 2837 - "BADLA", the film starts now .. I mean NOW in Glasgow .. all the very best Sujoy .. fatafati .. !! Joining you soon .. and greetings to the Producer and Production teams and crew."

In a statement, Pannu said, "This is going to be a riveting thriller. It’s Sujoy’s favourite genre and I am yet another time out of my comfort zone which I actually enjoy the most. When you are in safe hands of a brilliant filmmaker and an ace co-actor there is nothing to fear." She plays an entrepreneur in the film.

The director and his stars had an enjoyable exchange on Twitter when they joked about Ghosh's fear on the first day of the shoot.

Badla is likely to be released in 2019.
