Absconding Armaan Kohli arrested in Lonavala, to be produced in court

The Mumbai police arrested Armaan Kohli yesterday (12 June) in Lonavala. The actor has been allegedly accused of physical assault by his gilrfriend and live-in partner Neeru Randhawa.

Reportedly, Kohli was staying at his friend’s farmhouse in Lonavala and was caught when he went to buy a new sim card. He will be produced in court today (13 June).

Randhawa had registered a police complaint against Kohli on 4 June. He had been absconding since then.

Kohli has been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of the Indian penal code.

Randhawa, who is also a fashion designer, was in a live-in relationship with Kohli for three and a half years. The actor allegedly assaulted her at their residence on 3 June after which she was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

While speaking to us last week, Randhawa said that Kohli had been allegedly abusing her physical and mentally. “Armaan is an angry person. He shouts and abuses. In the past, he has hit me. I have complained to the police. I have tried running away, tried to leave him, but he would keep coming back saying you make me a better person. But this would just keep going round in circles. Even this morning, he messaged me saying let’s get married in two days, after he nearly tried to kill me!” she had said.

Randhawa also blamed Kohli of alleged alcohol and drug abuse.

Kohli, son of well-known film director Raj Kumar Kohli, started off his acting career in the 1990s but never made it big. In 2013, he returned to the limelight during the seventh season of Bigg Boss, a television show.

During the show, he was arrested for assaulting fellow contestant Sofia Hayat, and had also started dating fellow contestant Tanisha Mukerji, but they broke up later.
