The Mumbai police has beefed up the overall security for Salman Khan after being informed that gangster Sampat Nehra had allegedly planned to kill the actor. The police received the information from Haryana's special task force (STF).
Nehra is a protege of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is considered to be his follower. Bishnoi had recently threatened to kill the actor over the 1998 black buck poaching case against the actor.
The STF arrested Nehra on 6 June in Hyderabad. Further probe revealed that his intention was to murder the actor. To execute his plan, Nehra had also allegedly done a recce of Khan’s residence in Mumbai. A few pictures of the actor’s house in Galaxy Apartment were found in Nehra’s mobile phone.
“We have enhanced the overall security of Salman Khan. Police will be present around his apartment to make sure no nefarious activity is done by the gang from Rajasthan,” said a senior police official to Hindustan Times, a daily.
The deputy inspector general of STF told the media, “In the first week of May, Sampat Nehra was in Mumbai and surveyed the house of Salman Khan and the time when he comes out in the balcony of the house to wave at his fans. He tried to find out the distance to the balcony and had even taken few photographs of the house.”
According to the news agency ANI, Nehra had plans of leaving India after murdering Khan. “Nehra had gone to recce his residence in Mumbai and planned to flee outside India after executing plan,” said the agency.
Nehra, who is a sharpshooter, is wanted in a number of cases for murder, extortion and robbery.
Khan is currently gearing up for his next film Race 3, that will be released on Friday (15 June).
