Cast of Uma visit Indian Museum, support CRY's initiatives against child labour

Team of the recently released film Uma were present at the Indian Museum in Kolkata on Sunday (10 June) to support the NGO, Child Rights and You's (CRY) initiatives against child labour.

Director Srijit Mukherji, artistes Sara and Jisshu Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rudranil Ghosh and composer Anupam Roy attended the event that also exhibited a few science projects by unprivileged children.

Backed by critical appreciation and rave reviews, the film is doing well at the box office. Mukherji is also planning to visit several theatres that are screenig the film this week.

“I have always wanted to back and be part of good films. I feel Uma is a very important film. I think nothing is more satisfactory than a good film reaping commercial success,” said actor Anjan Dutt.

Mukherji's Uma is inspired by the rare gesture of humanity extended by a Canadian community towards Evan Leversage, a terminally ill boy. Along with spreading a message of harmony through the film, the team is taking up every possible opportunity to set an example of humanity.

Evan’s mother Nicole Wellwood flew down to Kolkata to attend the special screening of Uma this month. She was overwhelmed by the film and also spoke on the importance of turning of child’s dream into reality.
